A Sprinkle of Gratitude

Today I am grateful that my fractured ulna is healing slowly and I do not need another operation.

Today I am grateful that my Dad gave me Saint Saens Organ Symphony to listen to and I listened to it very loudly the other day and it was beautiful! 

Today I am grateful that I have ears to listen to beautiful music and that I listened to the most amazing version of Amazing Grace yesterday.

Today I am grateful that I had so many lovely visitors this morning – thank you Dave Shelberg, Marcel Bengston, Jolie Cowen, Pam Pelden,  Kylie Torrens, Karen Mahoney and Mum. It was lovely to see you all.

Today I am grateful for my home.   

Today I am grateful for modern medicine. I am grateful for amazing doctors, nurses, X-ray machines, diagnostic procedures and whatever else helped to get me diagnosed and treated quickly and effectively.

Today I am grateful for drugs. Drugs that help with pain, drugs that help with constipation , drugs that fight infections. I have only needed one lot of antibiotics. I have needed drugs to help with pain. I am grateful for their effectiveness. Today I am going to try with just Panadol and see how that goes for pain relief.

Today I am grateful for the brace on my arm. I do not have plaster , I have a brace. It is able to come off in the shower which is fantastic.

Today I am grateful for beautiful coffee. I had 10 days with no coffee. I love the taste of a good coffee. 

Today I am grateful for paramedics. I am grateful for the pain relief they gave me at the scene, I am grateful they got me stabilized and I am grateful they got me into hospital quickly ( even though I didn’t get sirens and flashing lights). 

Today I am grateful that I managed my shower independently and dressed myself . This is the first time since my accident. 

Today I am grateful I have a very comfortable bed to sleep in even though I am not getting a lot of sleep each night.

Today I am grateful that Lucy managed her trek for Antipodeans camp even though she had a sore ankle. I am also grateful for the rowing parents who organized to take her to rowing camp on Sunday night. 

Today I am grateful that I have such a big fridge to fit all the delicious food that everyone is making our family. It has been so yummy ! My family won’t want to go back to my cooking once this is all over……

Today I am grateful that I have two special sisters who have been very very worried about me. I am grateful that I will see them on Saturday when we celebrate Susan’s birthday.  

Today I am grateful that David gave up a weekend of racing at Kingaroy to be home with me. 

Today I am grateful that I slept better last night and am more comfortable moving around the bed.

Today I am grateful that Nick is getting his driving hours up and is almost at the stage he can go for his liscence. 

Today I am grateful that Sophia is home and keeping me company during the day.

Today I a grateful that I have such a beautiful home to be able to enjoy while I am recovering.  

Today I am grateful for my beautiful husband David because he heats my  hot pack for me and puts it on my sore back.

Today I am grateful for David because he is doing washing everyday.

Today I am grateful for David because he is looking after our whole lives while I am healing.

Today I am grateful for David  because he gets frustrated when he thinks I am doing too much.

Today I am grateful for David because I love him.    

Today I am grateful that Nicholas is a great fire builder so I am toasty warm during the day.

Today I am grateful that I managed a walk around my garden this morning.

Today I am grateful that some nice person in The Gap called yesterday to say they had found our puppy. He is a little unsettled and managed to escape twice yesterday. Both our puppies seem much more settled today.

Today I am grateful that we have a new sound system in the house so I can listen to nice music during the day. 

Today I am grateful that the bare root stock roses that were planted two weeks ago have got new shoots on them!  

Today I am grateful I slept in my own bed.

Today I am grateful for the delicious Tomato Soup I had for dinner last night and the delicious pumpkin gnocchi. 

Today I am grateful for the beautiful sunshine that is making my garden sparkle this morning.

Today I am grateful that David organized someone to help me in the shower this morning. I am exhausted from something relatively ordinary. 

Today I am grateful that David went for a ride to Redcliffe this morning – he really needed to ! 

Today I am grateful I am home! 

Today I am grateful that while I was in hospital the lovely cleaner Janice took the time to put a shower curtain in my bathroom so everything didn’t get wet while I was showering. 

Today I am grateful that the lovely kitchen staff lady Angela took the time to record my meal choices because I couldn’t because my left arm is damaged and I am left handed. Luckily then I didn’t starve. 

Today I am grateful I am not wearing pjs but normal clothes which makes me feel a little bit human. 

Today I am grateful that David drove carefully home so it didn’t hurt too much on the drive home. 

Today I am grateful for my puppy dogs. 

Today I am grateful for eyes to see my beautiful flowers and smell to smell my beautiful  flowers.  

Thank you to everyone who has sent flowers and gifts and cards.

Today I am grateful for the little beanie kid that Sophia gave me that is keeping me company at night,  

Today I am grateful that I managed to walk 6 laps of the ward last night before bed. 

Today I am grateful I am going home tomorrow hopefully. 

Today I am grateful that I have a brace on my arm that is supportive, that I can take off to shower and that bends at the elbow.

Today I am grateful my friend Melinda came to see me at the RBH. I know it was hard for her and I can’t believe I asked her to come ( there is a story here but it is not the place to tell on my grateful list). We had a wonderful chat and lots of hugs and tears and I am sending prayers to her and her family too.  

Today I am grateful for warm showers and being able to put my own pjs on.

Today I am grateful that my shoes fit on my feet for the first time in over a week.

Today I am grateful for the amazing medical team that have cared for me during the past week.

Today I am grateful for all the amazing people who are looking after my family while I am in hospital. My family is being fed very very well and we are so very lucky to have so many people who care about us.
