Saturday’s Grateful List

Today I am grateful for being in Melbourne.

Today I am grateful for the day David and I shared yesterday.

Our day started with a beautiful walk in the Botanical Gardens.

We then had breakfast at my favourite breakfast place in Melbourne – Cumulus Inc

Our morning was then spent with our friends Rachel and Shannon exploring the Dior exhibition at the NGV

In celebration of the seventieth anniversary of the House of Dior, one of the world’s most prestigious couture houses, the National Gallery of Victoria presents The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture.Exclusive to Melbourne, this exhibition is a collaboration between the NGV and the House of Dior and includes a sumptuous display of more than 140 garments designed by Christian Dior Couture between 1947 and 2017.The House of Dior explores the story of the fashion house through a series of themes, featuring works by the seven designers who have played key roles in shaping Dior’s renowned fashionable silhouette: Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri.(taken from the NGV website).

I loved the quotes and stories that accompanied the exhibition and of course I loved the Couture.

After enjoying the beautiful exhibition David and I wandered the shops of Melbourne. We did  visit the Dior shop on Collins Street.

Dinner on Friday night was amazing. I suggested we try High Line in Chapel Street. The ethos of High Line is sourcing up to 90% of the ingredients on the menu from their our own farm (Oak Valley) where they grow their own cattle, sheep and pigs along with their own fruit, vegetables. They also collect honey from their bee hives and forage for wild mushrooms and berries.

We could have chosen a seven course dugustation but decided on the three course A la Carte menu. Luckily three courses actually  meant 5! We started with an Amuse Bouche that was a very special vegemite scroll.

I then had Moreton Bay bug followed by the most mouth watering beef and I finished off with strawberries that were to die for. We thought we had finished our meal when the waiter brought out a pine cone in a bowl which he lit and we were all given a chocolate marshmallow to toast.

I am so grateful for a day filled with my favourite things – early morning exercise, wonderful friendship, beautiful fashion and delicious food.

Until next time
